Periodismo Humano, one of the pivotal online medias on Human Rights in Spanish language, has published a special monograph on ‘After Peace’ project, in particular on the cases of Rwanda and Guatemala. Combining texts and ten short documentaries (five for each country), this special multimedia monograph explores the state of peace in these two countries, that suffered both bloody armed conflicts in the last quarter of the 20th century. The International Catalan Institute for Peace (ICIP) presented the II ICIP Peace in Progress Award to five “Madres de Soacha” (Mothers of Soacha, a town near Bogotá in Colombia) at the Catalan Parliament last Monday 18th March 2013. The sons of these five mothers were assassinated extrajudicially by the Colombian Army between 2007 and 2008. The award recognizes the courage and exemplariness of the persistent struggle of these women, who “do not accept silence nor proposals of compensation and who do not back off despite the menaces and coercion”, and their contribution to the creation of citizenship and the defense of justice and juridical state.

El próximo jueves 31 de enero se proyecta el documental Ziztadak-Tábanos en Euskal Etxea con Sabino Ormazabal, escritor y periodista, impulsor del proyecto. La proyección tiene lugar en el marco del ciclo EZ AHAZTU-NO OBLIDEM. La película, producida por Bidea Helburu y Fora de Quadre y dirigida por Oriol Andrés, Carlos Castro y Gemma Garcia relata diversas luchas en el País Vasco que se han dotado de la acción no violenta y desobediente para defender el territorio, la cultura, la soberanía, una sociedad desmilitarizada y los derechos humanos.

El próximo martes 15 de enero se proyecta el documental Ziztadak-Tábanos en la Filmoteca de Catalunya. La película, producida por Bidea Helburu i Fora de Quadre y dirigida por Oriol Andrés, Carlos Castro y Gemma Garcia relata diversas luchas al País Vasco que se han dotado de la acción no violenta y desobediente para defender el territorio, la cultura, la soberania, una sociedad desmilitarizada y los derechos humanos. Dadaab refugee camp in Kenya, is considered the largest in the world by the UN. It was created over twenty years ago, in 1991, by UNHCR to house Somalis fleeing conflict then emerging. Currently, it hosts almost 500,000 people. The documentary ‘Dadaab’, produced by Contrast, discloses one of the lesser known sides of the conflict in Somalia while exploring the personal dynamics that are generated in the camp by tackling the life contradictions faced by its inhabitants.
